More About Dr. Andy Baker

Dr. Andy graduated from Michigan State University in 1992. His interests include small animal medicine and surgery with a special interest in orthopedics. He lives in Gobles with his wife Dr. Marianne and they have 3 grown children and 3 grandchildren.

Dr. Andy Baker quite literally grew up surrounded by veterinary medicine. His father, Dr. Duane Baker, practiced in Paw Paw, Michigan, where Andy spent much of his childhood and began helping at the clinic at an early age. It was also at the Paw Paw office where he met his future wife, Marianne, who was volunteering there at the time. The two dated through their undergraduate years and married while attending veterinary school.

Dr. Andy and Marianne graduated from Michigan State University in 1992 with their Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degrees. Shortly thereafter, they settled in the Gobles area, where they raised their family and went on to found both Gobles Veterinary Clinic and Bangor Veterinary Clinic in the early 1990s.

Early in his career, Dr. Andy developed a strong interest in orthopedic surgery. Over the years, he has completed extensive continuing education to become highly skilled in fracture repair as well as hip and knee procedures. His current clinical focus is on TPLO knee surgery, which he performs nearly daily and receives frequent referrals for from surrounding veterinary practices.

Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Andy has a wide range of passions. He is an award-winning songwriter who performs regularly at concerts and festivals throughout the Midwest. He is also an accomplished endurance athlete. He and Marianne have completed 21 Ironman triathlons across the globe. Hiking and travel are shared interests that they enjoy together.

While Dr. Andy appreciates animals of all kinds, he has a special fondness for cats, especially his rescue cat, Willie Nelson, who often rides alongside him to and from work as his trusted companion.
